We repair plaster properly: rake out cracks, patch, sand flush, then seal stains and spot-prime so the damage doesn't telegraph back through the new paint in six months.

The hard part of touch-up work is making the repair invisible. We colour-match the existing walls and feather new paint into old so the sheen and texture line up — no obvious square of fresh paint in the middle of a ten-year-old wall.
